Trigger EZDrummer With Electronic Drums!
Jun 2, 2012 electronic drums
This is EZDrummer in the VPT (Virtual Percussion Technology)system with an RET Percussion drum kit. RET recently contacted me to do a series of VPT videos to show how Easy and Awesome VPT really is. Here, we’re using EZDrummer, but any combination using great software samples of your choice is also cool.
I was literally setup and playing/recording in ONE HOUR! Not only was I very impressed by how quick and comfortabe I felt using this system, but the sounds!
I can’t even begin to describe how well these samples are recorded!
If you’re not familiar with software samples: They are ACTUAL recordings of ACTUAL drums like Tama – DW – Pearl – Mapex – Orange County – GMS – Yamaha – and Many others! Now, I can play an RET kit that feels acoustic, with the same look and sound of an acoustic! It beats using a module sound, hands down.
This truly is the future of drumming.
As always, please leave a comment or send me a personal message. I understand if these messages include massive amounts of exclamation points… this is HUGE!!!!!!!
Cheers to all, and keep on rockin’!!!

Yamaha DTX 500 Series Electronic Drum Kits Overview – Nevada Music UK
May 1, 2012 electronic drums
Buy here… http://www.nevadamusic.co.uk/drums/electronic/#!sort=price-desc&brand=Yamaha
A compilation we put together of all Yamaha’s DTX 500 video’s.
The Yamaha DTX520K Electronic Drum Kit gives you the feel and playability of real acoustic drums and the DTX520K has undergone some clever re-design features to make this electronic kit as real as it can possibly get.
The DTX520K uses a DTX-PAD for the snare to give you an authentic stick response and the ability to play open/closed rim shots whilst the Hi-Hat system features a dual-zone trigger pad (for edge and bow sounds). Also, the kit comes with Yamaha’s professional 3-zone cymbal pads which can express a different sound in each of the cup, bow and edge zones featuring a good stick feel and low acoustic noise.
The DTX500 Drum Trigger Module includes Yamaha’s high quality tone generator for realistic acoustic drums, with details like velocity-switching samples (which changes the type of sampled sound as you play harder). The DTX500 gives you 50 preset kits from a wide range of music styles and also allows the user to select their favourite sounds and create custom user kits. You even have the ability to add digital reverb effects and master EQ to sweeten your sound and for extra realistic response the DTX500 Module uses digital sound technology derived from the MOTIF ES synthesizer.
The DTX520K can easily be expanded by up to four additional pads if you need more toms, cymbals, or a double-bass configuration. The Yamaha DTX520K includes the following items :-
DTX500 Module, XP80 Snare, 2 x TP65 Toms, TP65 Floor Tom, KP65 Bass Drum, PCY100 + HH65 Hi-Hat, PCY100 Crash Cymbal, PCY135 Ride Cymbal, RS500 Rack.
The DTX500K Electronic Drum Kit from Yamaha has had major feature updates to provide an even more realistic drumming experience. The DTX500K uses a DTX-PAD for the snare to give you an authentic stick response and the ability to play open/closed rim shots.
The DTX500K features a hi-hat system that uses a remote hi-hat pedal controller (included with the kit) and trigger pad to provide realistic hi-hat expression. The pedal and pad can be located anywhere around the kit, much like the popular remote cable hi-hat systems for acoustic drums. Moreover, the hi-hat can express various styles of play such as open/close position, closed pedal and foot splash. You can even play tip and edge voices for adding subtle nuances to the beat …
The DTX500 Drum Trigger Module completes the feature range of this amazingly realistic kit whilst Yamaha’s high quality tone generator provides realistic acoustic drums, with details like velocity-switching samples (that switches between a range of samples as you play harder or softer). The DTX500 gives you 50 preset kits from a wide range of music styles. Select your favourite sounds and create custom user kits. Add digital reverb effects and master EQ to sweeten your sound. The DTX500 Module used digital sound technology derived from the MOTIF ES synthesizer.
Unlike some other electronic drum kits, the DTX500K even comes supplied with a Yamaha bass drum pedal! The DTX500K can easily be expanded by up to four additional pads if you need more toms, cymbals, or a double-bass configuration. Check out the Yamaha DTX500K on your next visit to the Nevada Music Warehouse …

Homemade Electronic Drum Kit:Coltronics Kit-e
Dec 19, 2011 electronic drums
This is my homemade electronic drum set. I call it the Coltronics Kit-e (“Kitty”). I made this video to show how I put it all together in case you might be thinking about making your own electronic drum kit. I came up with my own design. It started with a piezoelectric transducer soldered to a couple of wires and connected to a quarter inch phone jack. By trial-and-error, it morphed into what youre seeing in this video.
Ive had it for a number of years but its held up well. Im pleased with its design. Its compact. It works well. It was relatively inexpensive to put together using materials that are fairly easy to obtain. So check out the video. I hope it gives you some ideas.

Left Side Versatility With Electronic Drums
Oct 12, 2011 electronic drums
I have been playing electronic drums since 1981. One of the things that I started doing almost from the very beginning was to re-assign sounds to pads where those sounds did not belong. Here I will show you some versatility that electronics have.
