If you mic a drum set and don’t always play with the mics on, can you leave the mic in their position or is i bad for the mics to be playing the drums with the mics not even on.

another question. lol. if i am recording metal drums (fast double bass, rolls, blasts, and fills, crashes and hi hat etc.) I also have only ONE MIC!!!!!!! (i am really cheap and on a budget). where should i place the mic, for the best sound quality and to capture most of the range in sounds. ( i have an SM57.) thanks

ur mixer needs 2 b …
ur mixer needs 2 b able 2 differentiate the mics from eachother. If you have a standard analog mixer you can’t do it. If you have a usb or firewire mixer the software should pick them up.

So my mics run into …
So my mics run into my mixer and from there they run into my computer but when i record them on mixcraft they come out as one track and i was wondering how i get each mic in a seperate track?

Nice job on video!!!!!!!! If I could make one suggestion it would be to not use clip on mic holders . While they are usable for live sound, the vibrations from the drums passed on thru to the mics effects the sound dramatically (and not in a good way).Keep up the good work.
